For over 43 years, we've empowered educators with mentorship, training, and hands-on support so they can build meaningful childcare careers from their own homes. You run your own program, we provide the guidance, documentation, backup care, professional development, and community you need to thrive.
As a Hemel House Educator, you still run your own child care business. You choose your hours, program, philosophy, paid holidays, and the families you work with. We help support you behind the scenes with documentation, consultant visits, advertising, backup care, professional development, and ongoing guidance.
For a limited time, we have lowered our first year admin fee for new Educators.

Hemel House Philosophy
Every child deserves a space where they feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. Our family day home educators create warm, home-like environments where children build confidence through play, discovery, and meaningful daily routines. With smaller groups and consistent caregivers, your child gets the individual attention that nurtures real growth, socially, emotionally, and developmentally.
Family Day Homes
A family day home is a licensed, home-based childcare setting where a trained educator provides care, learning activities, and developmental support for up to six children. Unlike large daycares, family day homes offer smaller group sizes, consistent routines, and a calm, familiar atmosphere that helps children feel secure.
Hemel House monitors and supports every day home in our network to ensure they meet or exceed Alberta Child and Family Services standards for safety, nutrition, programming, and hygiene.
Educators are trained in First Aid and childcare, adhere to all provincial and agency regulations, and participate in monthly training meetings. They design their environments to ensure the safety, stimulation, and well-being of every child.
For 43 years, we’ve been supporting Lethbridge families by offering:
A 24/7-hour caregiver and support
